What is a .p7m file

The .p7m extension means a CAdES (PKCS #7) signature with the document stored inside. Remove the extension and you get the original name: “letter.pdf.p7m” holds “letter.pdf”. Offices and companies in Poland send .p7m files, and Italian e-invoices (FatturaPA) use them too.

What is the difference between .p7m and .p7s?

A .p7m file contains the document. A .p7s file usually holds only the signature, with the document next to it or in the body of an email.
